For A Soldier at Antietam
For a Soldier at Antietam is a touching and heartfelt story that brings history to life through the eyes of young Clara, who visits Antietam National Cemetery with her father.
As they explore the solemn grounds, Clara learns about the brave soldiers who fought and died during the Civil War, including those whose names are unknown. Through a playful “story game”, Clara imagines life of one such soldier, and in doing so, discovers the true meaning of heroism, sacrifice, and freedom.
This touching narrative addresses difficult themes with gentleness, humility, and grace while honoring the courage of the soldiers buried at Antietam and inviting readers of all ages to reflect on the importance of remembering their sacrifices.
